Hot stones have been used as healing tools for thousands of years by many indigenous cultures around the world, from the ancient Chinese, Egyptians and Romans to the native healers of North and South America.

Hot Stone Massage uses volcanic basalt stones that have been tumbled by the fresh waters of rivers for millennia to a perfectly smooth and rounded shape. Basalt stones have an extraordinary ability to store and emanate a consistent and soothing heat for a long period of time. They possess a wonderful grounding healing quality, able to rejuvenate and connect us back to the basic elements of nature.

A set of basalt stones consists of 30 stones of various shapes and sizes, ranging from rounded stones as big as your palm, to small flat pebbles. The water-heated stones are laid out on key areas of the body on the back and front, your arms, legs, face and even between your toes. While the soothing heat from the stones gently swirls through your body, the therapist begins to massage you with a set of hot stones as big as his palms. The effect is an absolute divine experience of deep relaxation and restoration.

Application of pressure is contraindicated directly over sites of acute, active and ongoing infection and inflammation. Recent unhealed fractures, acute gout, phlebitis, and unhealed wounds contraindicate massage.
